What can you use the app for?

YumBunny Is yet another dating website, however this one is different. Instead of the site suggesting who you look good with they let the crowds decide. The website features two random photos next to each other. The visitor to the site can then vote on whether they think they look good together, don’t look good together, or whether they might make a good couple. Other sites do offer a similar feature, however most of these do not have widgets. The best thing about YumBunny is the great widgets which can be embedded onto your blog or website so that other people can vote. The widget can be set up to always display your photo along with another random one for you to choose, or two random photos. If you’re really trying to find love then you will want to make sure it’s set to always display your photo. An interesting idea is that the more you participate in the community, the more your photo appears on the site. This is a great idea as it encourages other uses to vote on couple matches. Another great feature is if you ever come across anyone that you or your friends like then you can send them an email so that they can consider getting in touch. Every week the site will automatically send you a list of your most popular matches as voted for by visitors to the site. The idea is that these people might get it wrong some of the time, but if most people say the same thing then it could be a very good idea to get in touch with the person. If you do decide to contact the person then it will cost you $2.99, however you can talk for as long as you want for that price.

What is the history and popularity of the app?

YumBunny was launched in early 2009 and is a unique form of dating site where instead of ‘professionals’ choose matches, the general public gets to decide.

What are the differences to other apps?

The biggest and most important difference between this and the majority of other dating websites is that this one has useful widgets. The widget can be embedded on your website or blog so that you can encourage people to participate. It’s also possible to email the widget to people so that you can get your friends input.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

It’s very easy to use YumBunny, when you register you will be able to upload a photo and enter all sorts of really interesting information. You can then start receiving suggestions about who you might like. The widget can be installed on My Space or your blog, or you can email it to people. This means that your friends and family (along with complete strangers) will be able to find you people that you might want to talk to. At the end of every week you receive an email showing who you might like. If you want to do anything with these matches then it will cost $2.99 for a conversation, however you do not have to pay anything if you don’t want to talk to any.

How does the registration process work?

Registering for a YumBunny account is pretty easy. The first step is a little unusual as you will have to upload your photo. Don’t worry about the size because you can use the site to crop it later if you wish. Once you have cropped the image click the save and continue button at the right hand side of the photo. Then it’s a fairly regular signup form. Enter your email, your gender and the gender of the person you are looking for. Then sum yourself up in one word and write two things that you like and two things that you dislike. You will be sent an email that you need to read and click on a link to activate your account.

What does it cost to use the application?

YumBunny is free to use, you only need to pay when you want to contact people. Contacting someone costs $2.99 for an unlimited amount of messages. You’re under no obligation to talk to anyone on the site and so if there’s nobody that you like you don’t need to pay. You only need to pay when you find someone that you would really like to talk to.

Who would you recommend the application to?

The main problem with YumBunny is that it doesn’t seem to care that much about your geographic location. While it might be pretty high up the list to find someone that speaks the same language and lives in the same country this might not be possible with YumBunny. However it’s a great concept and really is a fantastic way to find a new lover. Mainly because it’s much more fun than other dating sites!

  • Find your next true love
  • Vote on couples you think are a good match
  • Receive emails showing who you might like
  • Recommend certain people to your friends
